Sunset over Magic Kingdom

The afternoon of Saturday, July 11, 2105 saw some violent thunderstorms and intense lightning. But they cleared up just prior to sunset, leaving the sky above the Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World) awash in a riot of color.

By the time I walked a few paces to get a better position, some of the sunset colors had already started to fade. It was here and gone in minutes.

Here’s an update at the Hub Expansion construction taking place in Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World.) Shots taken later afternoon Monday, February 2, 2015.

On approach to Cinderella Castle, you can see some of the walls on Main Street as well as the boxed up Partner's Statue (with Walt and Mickey) and other low walls around the central hub.

Osborne Family Lights

The amazing light display takes over every inch of the Streets of America backlot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios) at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida each holiday season! They really get into every detail, such as covering these bikes with lights!

They’ve been working on improving the backstage area behind Main Street USA as an overflow bypass exit for busy periods (holidays, during parades, etc.) for quite some time now. Saturday, November 29th I used the still-under-construction bypass and took this hurried shots. Please excuse the poor quality, they were taken quickly while walking.

Oddly, there was a lot of work done or being done on the ground level. Grassy/flower bed areas, railings that sort of thing. Some of the buildings have gotten paint work as you can see, but others are still just dumpsters and pipes without any attempted masking whatsoever. It made for a very hodgepodge look.

The Island Supply Store in Advetureland in the Magic Kingdom is located between The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the Aloha Isle location where you can buy world-famous Dole Whips. It bordered the pass-through between Adventureland and Liberty Square and was across from the restrooms. The shop offered a variety of “surf” items including shirts, hats and more from brands such as Roxy, Element, Billabong, Hurley, O’Neill and others.

It closed this past week and rumors point to it becoming an upscale sunglass retail location along the lines of a Sunglass Hut or similar.

I took a peek through the glass last night (Saturday, October 25th) to see the store had already been completely emptied of merchandise.

I saw many of the items that were formerly in the Island Supply shop relocated in the adjoining “bazaar” shop including some of the “surf” brand men’s shirts. It is unclear if they will continue to stock new merchandise at the alternate location or if they simply are selling off existing stock.
