Welcome to the Haunted Mansion

Foolish Mortals, welcome to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host; your Ghost Host. There are 999 Happy Haunts here – but there’s room for a thousand. Any volunteers?

I loved how the crescent moon was framed so perfectly over the magic lamp atop the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride, framed by palm trees. Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

The formerly orange “Mars” type rocks surrounding the entrance to Tomorrowland are getting a repaint to a more futuristic metallic look including tones of purple, blue and silvery.

Scaffold is visible for the repainting of the rockwork. It appears a primer or base coat is currently being done.

The area in the extended queue for Stitch’s Great Escape that goes down along the side of the building shows fully completed rocks in the new paint scheme. These were taken with flash at night to help show the color.

And you can see some staging area including a popup tent way down at the very end behind the neon lightning of the decor.

Should be interesting to see what the finished product will look like! This repaint will definitely change the color and style of Tomorrowland’s entry from a Martian theme to a more Sci Fi/ space/futuristic coloration.

Disney Photo of the Day

On my last trip to Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World), I had to run over to the Contemporary Resort. I took the opportunity to snag a photo from the 4th floor observation deck of monorail Lime passing in front of Space Mountain on it’s way to the park. I didn’t have my telephoto lens with me, but I still managed to get a pretty good shot from my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens.

Disney Pic of the Day

While strolling through Magic Kingdom late in the evening, I came across a parked stroller with a Mickey ear balloon tied to it right in front of Cinderella Castle. I just loved the juxtaposition and took this quick shot.

I absolutely love the Butterfly Garden at the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival. It’s something I look forward to all year. I am such a fan of macro photography and I always enjoy getting detailed shots of the amazing patterns and colors on the butterflies.

This is a “White Peacock” butterfly.

Final Osborne Lights

We went out on the cold and rainy Sunday for the original final night of the Osborne Lights at Disney’s Hollywood studios January 3rd, 2016. Low crowds because it rained all evening and was very cold; only around 48f. At the last-minute they announced three additional days of the Lights with a final day of Wednesday, January 6, 2016 but the group who braved the weather on Sunday had a really great vibe. We were dedicated and true fans and everyone had even more fun in a weird way for being there in the miserable conditions.

Here’s a view of the soggy but low volume crowds on Streets of America under the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.

We were over at MK for a few hours late Sunday afternoon/early evening. I didn’t bring my DSLR, but I did grab my pocket point-and-shoot in case I wanted to snap a quick shot. And I found that I could just reach over the wall around the Castle Forecourt and Stage area to snap some pics.
